Mojito

Ingredients needed to make a Mojito

White Rum (brand disclosed since they failed on their promise to mail me a free T-shirt), fresh mint (borrowed and/or stolen from my neighbor's garden) 1 sugar cube; fresh juice of 1 lime, ice.

Mojito Cocktail Recipe Directions

Put the mint leaves in the bottom of the glass with a sugar cube, mash together with a small wooden muddler, add in rum, lime juice, stir to dissolve excess sugar, add in ice.

JRCXNY's Notes

North Jersey: Great drink in the summer, refreshing. While it might taste better in Cuba or Miami, it does just fine here in the hot Summer months in the NYC area.

I like sugar cubes because when muddled with a little wooden "baseball bat" it crushes and releases the scent in the mint. I usually add the lime juice in after that, then the liquor and ice :)

I notice you use sugar cubes. Sugar does not dissolve in alcohol so you need to either muddle with some water or soda water in case of mojito or use something else. 10x confectioners works well in a pinch but I'm a major proponent of simple syrup (1:1 sugar:water boil till sugar just dissolves).

The green color is a combination of the green lime juice and the fresh green mint. I think somehow it came out "greener" due to the camera flash. No photoshop enhancements here, but I do wish I had more manual control over the consumer camera :(

Looks great. Nice contrast in the photo. Is it that green from the mint? Keep the good stuff coming! Mojitos are best with fresh ingredients.
