Martini

Ingredients needed to make a Martini

3 parts tanqueray 1 part noilly prat 3 olives

Martini Cocktail Recipe Directions

Chill a martini glass.Add ingredients to shaker with lots of ice. Shake vigorously until ice form on outside of shaker. Empty chill water & cubes from glass. Add olives. Pour shaker ingredients into glass. Sip.

tedvilla's Notes

Never used noilly prat hence this add. It more yellow and a bit sweeter than m&r. Also less acerbic than the latter so it makes for a softer Martini.

@forrest I like a beefeater martini every now and again -- it's a classic for sure but a tad harsh. @bartender I like that suggestion of Hendricks with Noilly Prat I think that you right.

The Noilly Prat might go well with Hendrick's Gin, which also has a softer presence on the palette.

I actually had done Beefeaters the other night. I wouldn't recommend it but it was the only London dry they had. My current go to gin is Plymouth, it can't be beat.

@forrest yes a dry gin would up the classicism quite a bit but the only dry one I've got is Gordon's and while fine for a camping G&T it's not so great for martinis ;-).

This looks great. I'd try it with a nice traditional London dry gin.
